She then invites the kids to walk the path and select their favorite eggplant to harvest and take home for their parents to prepare. I think - how many of these tots have actually gotten their food directly from the plant and not the grocery store? If there is a garden at home, perhaps. Either way it must be a semi-magical experience.
In the end, I'm curious to know what these small people have taken in from the tour. Will they see a polished eggplant differently on the shelves of the grocery store? Will they remember what the whole kale plant looks like and how it got there to begin with? We can only hope, and that their appreciation runs a bit deeper at their next meal.
