But for a series of complicated reasons, the farm still owns just a small percentage of the fields that it needs to raise crops. Clearly, not a very sustainable situation!
To address this lingering issue, we at Featherstone Farm are thinking of taking on a major Kickstarter (or similar on line) fundraising campaign in the fall of 2015. This time the focus of the campaign would be to raise funds to help purchase farmland; vital tillable acres adjacent to our Rushford building, which we presently rent for vegetable production on a year-to-year basis. All of us at the farm believe that we have a compelling story, one that could have mass appeal.
But… none of us has significant experience with designing and running a campaign of this sort. So we are looking for an experienced, expert individual to work with us (starting soon!) to manage this effort from start to finish. If you have the relevant experience, the time to invest, and an interest / passion for local / organic agriculture- or if you know someone who does- we would like to talk with you… SOON!
