This is it! The last of the summer bounty.
Week 18: Final Week of the Summer CSA
Hello everyone and welcome to the final week of our 2024 Summer CSA program! This season has truly come full circle. We started with weeks of heavy rain, affecting the quality of our produce, but the last few weeks of dry weather have given us some absolutely beautiful crops.
For those joining the Winter CSA, you can expect peppers and tomatoes from our high tunnels, thanks to the sunshine we've had this fall.
This week’s share includes winter squash varieties like butternut, carnival, and spaghetti squash—these store well and can last for weeks. You’ll also find savoy cabbage, great for slaws due to its crunch, alongside carrots, onions, and beets—all of which store well for extended periods. A seasonal treat is the watermelon radish, a vibrant and flavorful crop that lasts for weeks in the fridge.
Our Hakurei turnips are perfect for dips, and we're also sending off summer with beautiful golden and red peppers—make sure to use these quickly as they soften in cooler weather. You’ll also get some late-season tomatoes, which will ripen over a few days on your counter.
Finally, enjoy baby bok choy, perfect for stir fries, green kale at its peak, and fragrant, field-grown cilantro.
We want to thank you for your support and engagement throughout the season, through both wet and dry conditions. It’s been a pleasure to grow for you, and we look forward to seeing many of you in the Winter CSA!
Thank you, and see you soon!
