Our Certifications

USDA Organic

Featherstone Farm has been USDA Certified Organic since 2001. USDA Certified Organic requires operations to use practices that cycle resources, conserve biodiversity, and preserve ecological balance. We are inspected yearly by specially trained organic inspectors who review all aspects of our growing practices to ensure we meet organic standards. When you see the organic seal on our products, you can be confident in our growing practices and our commitment to organically grown food.

Fair Food

We have been Fair Food Certified since 2024. The Fair Food Program is a unique partnership among farmers, farm workers, and retail food companies that ensures humane wages and working conditions for the people who feed our families. At Featherstone we rely on the help of H2A visa workers from Mexico to grow consistent, high quality, organic produce for our community. We recognize that working with this population comes with great responsibility and we want to be confident for ourselves and our community that we are doing everything we can to ensure all workers are treated not just fairly but really well. The Fair Food Program provides yearly education to farm workers on their rights, conducts interviews with all employees in their native language, and enforces an in depth code of conduct for participating farmers.

Real Organic

Featherstone has been Real Organic Certified since 2020. We believe that standards of organic production should be sky high and aspirational.  They should drive us to reach higher and do better with our crops and livestock, with our soils and our farm ecosystems. The Real Organic Project is a farmer-led movement created to distinguish soil-grown and pasture-raised products under USDA organic. In response to the lack of enforcement of some vital USDA Organic standards to protect soil health and animal welfare, organic farmers rallied together to fight to protect the integrity of the organic label with the creation of the Real Organic "add-on" label for greater marketplace transparency. Lowest common denominator standards serve industry more than integrity, profit more than people. Real Organic certification reflects who we really are at Featherstone Farm.

FSMA Covered and Gap Certified

Food Safety Modernization Act and Good Agricultural Practices

Featherstone Farm holds itself to the highest standards when it comes to keeping our products safe from potential food safety risks for our customers. We have annual audits from both FSMA, a required inspection from the FDA, and GAP, a voluntary food safety audit with slightly different standards. We test our irrigation water for contaminants, ensure field to consumer traceability, and train all workers in food safety. As consumers become further detached from where their food is coming from, piece of mind can be found in knowing that your farmer is held to the highest of food safety standards.
